It was pleasing to have so many families attending our acquaintance night.
I know staff were pleased to have the opportunity to share their ideas about learning, classroom procedures and plans for 2017. The new teachers felt very welcomed by parents so thank you.
As part of the communications plan developed by the Governing Council in 2016 each class will be using See-Saw App as the primary mode of communication. Last year it was successfully trialled by a few class teachers. All teachers have now had some training in using the APP, but like all new learning some teachers have adapted to using it more quickly than others. Most classes are up and running and I know one class has every family using the App and the feedback has already been really positive. It is our aim to provide up to date information about student learning and to make the twice termly class newsletters redundant.
The communications plan also recommended the use of Skoolbag App for all notes, newsletters and push notes. As of next week, all notes will be both emailed and distributed through Skoolbag for the remainder of the term. After this time notes will no longer be emailed.

Whole school or class related text messages from the beginning of term 2 will only go through Skoolbag. Information about downloading the Skoolbag App is on the home page of the school website.
I recommend all parents to download the Skoolbag APP. The other planned communication change is the introduction of QKR. This will occur in term 2 and is an App that will allow families to order and pay for canteen lunches. If this is successful, the Canteen and Uniform Committee will consider using it for the purchases in the uniform shop.
To further enhance communication between parents and the school about student learning the three way interview introduced in term 1 last year will continue. However there will be two interviews during the year in term one and term three. The two written reports in term two and four will remain the same.
Last week, we had a special school assembly to watch a film of concert performed by students Santa Josefa Primary School, our sister school in Indonesia. I was thrilled and humbled by the efforts of the staff and students of our sister school as their performance was to acknowledge and celebrate our schools 150 year celebration. If you would like to watch the performance this is the link
The school watched the film and Lyndal is preparing a video in response that will include some of our students’ entries into last year’s Indofest competitions.
