Humanities and Social Sciences
The key ideas for the Humanities and Social Sciences are:
‘Who we are’ allows students to explore their own identity and Australia’s cultural diversity. ‘How societies and economics operate’ allows student to develop understandings about Australian society and other societies in the world, both past and present; and how they function socially, culturally, economically and politically. Students examine developments that have resulted in or are bringing about change.
‘The connectedness of people, places, ideas and events’ allows students to understand the independent nature of the world and interrelationships within and between natural environments.
‘How people exercise their responsibilities’ allows students to explore the rights and responsibilities of individuals and groups over time and in different contexts. Also as part of the Humanities and Social Sciences students are involved with studies of Civics and Citizenship and Economics and Business. These two areas being designed to help students develop skills which will allow them to participate confidently in the wider community.
